Park Canada and The Israel Museum

Today we went to Park Ayalon Canada for half of the day and the other half we spent at The Israel Museum. Everyone on my trip from Canada was really excited that Canada has some recognition in Israel. We were also wondering why in fact it is called Park Canada. The answer is that JNF hosted a dinner a couple years ago to honour a philanthropist in Toronto. In the end they decided to call the national park, Park Ayalon Canada.
While we were there we learned about the battles of the Maccabees and Helanists.

After having a lovely lunch in front of the lake at Park Ayalon Canada, we went on our way to The Israel Museum.  I had never been to the Israel Museum before. There was a huge replica of the second temple outside.  It was amazing to see and understand the layout of the second temple.

The Israel Museum also has a large display of the Dead Sea Scrolls. There were many of them displayed throughout the room.  This was the second time that I saw the Dead Sea scrolls, I saw them before at the ROM when they were on a tour of North America.  We went on a tour of the modern art section where there was a neat photo of an imitation of "The Last Supper" with Israeli soldiers by Adi Nes. Pictured below.

Tomorrow we are going to the Kotel for Shabbat services and walking an hour back to our campus after for Shabbat dinner.
