Kotel and the City of David

             Panorama of the Kotel

On Sunday and Monday we didn't have much going on besides going to school from 8:30 until 4:30.

Today, we had half a day of classes and then went on our way to the Tayelet for an incredible view of Jerusalem. It is known that from the Tayelet, Abraham and Isaac started their final part of their journey where Abraham almost sacrificed Isaac.

We then went on our way to the City of David where we went into the water tunnels. We learned about david buying the land to make it a capital city and a religious centre. Excavations over recent decades have proven that there was a city here, but no mention of David. There have been artifacts founded dating back to David's time including gold coins, earrings, and wax seals with names in Tanach. We went into the water tunnels, and walked in water up to above our knees for about 35 minutes. It was a very narrow tunnel, we walked in a single file line. It was so special to be singing songs and holding lit candles while walking in the water tunnel in the City of David.

After coming out of the tunnel we got into our Kotel clothes and went to the Kotel. It was a very meaningful experience after being in Israel for two weeks and going to the Kotel for the first time on TRY. The other times that I have gone is with my family. It felt different from the other times I have gone to the Kotel. It wasn't to crowded at the Kotel, so I was able to get up close to the Kotel for a good twenty minutes. I felt a true connection to the Kotel, where I am living for the upcoming 4 months. Over all, our tiyul was amazing and I'm looking forward to the coming trips!!
